Lyons Rescue makes a great save 5/31/12

On Thursday May 31st 2012 at 19:15 Lyons Fire Rescue along with Lyons Town Ambulance were dispatched for a person trapped under a vehicle.  Rescue 3 took the assignment operated by asst. Chief Rios while enroute Lyons units were advised it was confirmed patient trapped and not breathing under a car. Car 7-1,7-3 and 7-4 arrived on scene along with Rescue 3 and within 2 minutes were able to use our Hurst Hydraulic Spreader to lift the car and free the patient who was not breathing and did not have a pulse. CPR was immediately started by EMS personnel and at time of transport a pulse had been reestablished, LTA paramedics transported the patient to Newark Wayne Hospital landing zone where a Mercy Flight MedEvac helicopter was standing by to fly the patient to Strong Memorial Hospital. Lyons Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Lyons police department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
