Warehouse Fire – January 27

On Friday, January 27, 2006 at 12:01 hours, Lyons Fire was dispatched to a reported fire in the Tyco Plastics / D&W Warehouse at 8700 Hill Rd. Engine 7, Truck 1, and Squad 3 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt and Assistant Chief’s Paliotti, Darcangelis and Rios.

Upon the Chief’s arrival, smoke was showing from an attached 30′ x 60′ section at the rear of the facility. Engine 7 took the attack, and Truck 1 dropped the supply line and laddered the structure. At 12:06 hours a second alarm was struck sending Engine 3 and Attack 3 to the scene and a fill in at the LFD Station. At 12:19 hours Chief Witt declared the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wayne County Cause & Origin Team.

Department activated on the Second Alarm: Newark FD – Engine 30, and Wayne County Deputy Fire Coordinator – Car 8.

LFD was further assisted on location by the Lyons Town Ambulance, Lyons Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. The assignment was back in-service at 14:04 hours.
