High Angle Rescue – May 8

On Monday, May 8, 2006 at 17:18 hours, Lyons Water Rescue along with Lyons Town Ambulance, was dispatched to a reported “jumper” from the Leach Road Bridge over the Erie Canal. Engine 6 and Squad 3, with the boat, took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt and Assistant Chief Rios.

Upon Engine 6’s arrival, a male subject was found laying on the rocks under the bridge. Chief Witt requested the Truck Company to respond and initiate a High Angle Rescue. After a 20 minute extrication, the patient was turned over to EMS and later transported to the Trauma Center via Medivac.

LFD was assisted on location by Lyons Town Ambulance and the Lyons Police Department. The assignment went back into service at 18:05 hours.
