Barn Fire – March 5

On Friday, March 05, 2010 at 23:15 hours, Lyons Fire was dispatched to a reported working structure fire at 7494 Old Lyons Road. Engine 6 and Engine 7 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt, Deputy Chief Paliotti, and Assistant Chief’s Darcangelis and Rios.

Upon arrival, Chief Witt reported a working barn fire with exposures and ordered Engine 6 to lay in. The crew of Engine 6 made the hydrant, stretched their hand lines and darkened down the fire. Engine 7 provided lighting and stood ready on scene. The fire was declared under control at 23:46 hours and an Investigator from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene.

LFD was further assisted on location by the Lyons Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department – C.I.D. Division, and the Lyons Town Ambulance. The assignment was back in-service at 00:49 hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
