| On Friday, February 17, 2006, Wayne County was hit with a windstorm producing winds up to 70 mph. As numerous departments throughtout the county were busy with wind related damage, The Lyons Fire Department responded to 6 calls within the first couple hours of Duty Driver Darcangelis' tour. Two of these calls were of top priority.
At 08:24 hours Lyons Fire Rescue along with Lyons Town Ambulance was dispatched to a reported tractor trailer rollover in the area of 696 Route 14. Engine 6, Squad 3 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt. Upon Engine 6's arrival, a tractor trailer was found on its side, in a field, on the north side of the road. The crew of engine 6 found the operator pinned by the steering wheel. After stabilizing the tractor, extrication began with Captain DiSanto on the tool. After a short extrication period, the operator was turned over to the medics of LTA and transported to the local hospital with minor injuries. At 09:13 hours, while preparing to secure the scene of the MVA, Command was notified of smoke coming from a structure at 8 Bear St. Engine 7, Engine 6 and Squad 3 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt and Assistant Chief Paliotti.
