The Lyons Fire Department EMS Program began in the Spring of 2000. Through this program we provide a Basic Level EMS Response to the residents of our district, including both the Village and Town of Lyons.

This program currently works in conjunction with the Lyons Town Ambulance (LTA). The Lyons Fire Department only responds to assist on a "First Response Basis" when the primary duty crew for LTA is on another assignment, and a LTA back up crew is being formed or a mutual aid service covering the call, arrives on scene. The only exception is when an individual will come directly to our Fire Station, which is staffed 24 / 7. In that case, we stabilize the patient until the LTA Duty Crew arrives and takes over patient care.

EMS Division

The LFD Technical Rescue Division consists of Confined Space Rescue, Water Rescue, Ice Rescue, and Rope Rescue.

LFD is currently the only department in Wayne and Ontario Counties, approximately 1,500 square miles, with an established Confined Space Rescue Team. We currently provide this service to several departments and area businesses within the county and adjoining counties on an automated mutual aid system. We have the capabilities to provide a year to year contract when it's required by OSHA.

The L.F.D. - C.S.R.T. works hand in hand with your local volunteer fire department, and is covered under the Wayne County Mutual Aid Policy. We assist you with site inspections, employee training, subcontractor education and other tasks as they may relate to confined space situations at your facility.

The Team responds with all of the necessary equipment needed to perform the rescue in a safe and controlled environment. Our Team consists of well trained firefighters that are dedicated to safety and getting the job completed.

If your department or business is interested in this service, please contact Chief Witt.

Technical Rescue Division

The Rescue Division responds to all motor vehicle accidents, pedestrian struck incidents, farm incidents, haz-mat / decontamination incidents.

The LFD protection district is composed of commercial, industrial, residential and agricultural properties.

Within this protection district there is a section of the NYS Canal and a CSX siding, with plans of adding a train station in the near future.

Rescue Division

The Fire Division responds to all types of calls including fire, rescue, and technical rescue emergencies. Staffed with over thirty (30) active firefighters, LFD protects over 9,536 permanent residents within its 60 square mile district.

The Fire Division operates 1 Station, 3 Engines, 1 Quint, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Wild-Land Fire Suppression Vehicle and 1 Incident Command Vehicle.
