Barn Fire – January 17

On Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 19:35 hours, the Lyons Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire at 3057 Maple Street Rd. Engine 7, Engine 3 and Squad 3 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt and Assistant Chief’s Paliotti, Darcangelis and Rios.
Upon the Chief’s arrival, smoke was showing from a 100′ x 40′ wood frame barn, with a residential exposure on side D of the building. Engine 7 took the attack with Engine 3 providing a water supply. At 19:41 hours a second alarm was struck for water operations and fill in at the LFD Station. At 20:00 hours Chief Witt declared the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Departments activated on the Second Alarm : Sodus Center FD – Tanker 26, Wallington FD – Tanker 22, Newark FD – Engine 30, and Wayne County Deputy Fire coordinator – Car 6.

LFD was further assisted on location by the Lyons Town Ambulance and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. The assignment was back in-service at 21:11 hours.
